    Jo Fairfax

Jo has been working on the redevelopment of Northampton’s market square lighting for several months.

His permanent work incorporates a beautiful architectural led lighting scheme that changes every hour, as well as ghost like images of the old Peacock Hotel that will be projected onto the modern Peacock Place, connecting the building to the people in the Square today. The projections also feature mischievous animated images of George Bernard Shaw and Francis Crick.

Every evening from dusk, 365 days of the year.

    Simon Hasan

Simon explores the changing patterns of shopping behaviour and the traditional market place through the creation of a series of hand made leather objects all made using the medieval technique of cuir bouilli.

These artefacts will have an almost archaeological quality, crudely formed, and hardened through the ancient process used. Each will be individually embossed with a unique reference and can be purchased by the public from a leather clad, coin-operated vending machine.

    July 23 and 24 (10am – 5pm) / July 30 and 31 (10am – 5pm) and August 1 (12noon – 5pm)

    Simon Heijdens

Simon has created a series of large-scale digital projections of organic forms that directly respond to their environment through the activity cycles of the passing public or changes in weather.

Projected onto several of the most historic facades on the market square these projections will, emerge, shift and grow as dusk falls across the late summer evenings.

Every evening from dusk, July 23 – August 1

    Summer Sundae

Summer Sundae will feature a mini village green, complete with dance floor and RagRoof Theatre's participatory tea dance with a DJ, dance teacher and 6 glamorous dancers performing to the roaring sounds of the 20's, 30's and 40's. The day also features Fairly Famous Family and their brilliant Anyone For Tennis featuring a pristine tennis court, dead posh umpire and a highly strung player looking to take on all comers in an hilarious, but thrilling 'one setter' featuring slow motion replays, heated line calls and live commentary. The obligatory strawberries and cream will also be available, served up by a glamorous 50's femme fatale. There'll be vintage Swing-Boat rides, an arts market and bicycle bazaar, the vintage crafts cafe serving tea and cupcakes, the naughty Northampton 40's housewives spreading gossip and you'll be encouraged to' grow you own' with the charming Nu-urban gardeners. The square will be dressed with areas of astro-turf, white picket fencing, deck-chairs and bunting creating a relaxed village fayre feel. Don't miss it!
